It's Friday, and that is always
something to celebrate. The sun is out, my house is clean, and with my
caramel steamer in hand, I have a little extra time to do my favorite
thing....write. Sometimes I sit down with each sentence already meticulously
crafted in my head, other times I sit here and have not one clue what words
will escape from the tips of my fingers. So warning, this is simply a
spontaneous spew of thoughts, feelings, ideas and words pieced together to, if
nothing else, help me understand myself.
I am blessed. And while my last
blog post may not have portrayed that feeling very well, I am, indeed, very
blessed. I find myself amid blissful moments each and every day. And
as I sit there, filled with happiness while I am surrounded by people I love,
or as I am immersed in the things I love doing, I can't help but to keep
thinking that it's God's way of sharing His love with me. He has given me the
most wonderful people to love and to know. And he's given me the most
incredible experiences. I couldn't be more grateful for any of it,
really.
I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. God's hand
is in my life, and he will place me exactly where I need to be. He will in fact
mold me into what I can be through different experiences. So I am
thankful for every experience I am given, the good and the bad, because each
day, as I look to the days before, I can see how much I have grown.
I'm
going to give you a little advice, advice that before was given to me by my
dear friend CaLea Myshel Bagley:
1. Write in a journal. Do it on the daily if
possible. Even if you hate writing, just try it. Go to the store and find a
little book that pulls at your heartstrings. Now all you have to do is live a
life worth writing about. Make each day record-worthy and suddenly your journal
keeping becomes that much easier. Go. Today. Get a journal and on the very first
page write February 21, 2014.
2. Focus on the positive aspects. Life's
hard. We all have our trials, big and small, but finding what makes you
happy will make life so much more enjoyable. Whether it's your caramel steamer
from Harts, going for a run, finding a new book, or even taking a warm shower,
find your simple pleasures in life and suddenly your burden doesn't seem quite
so heavy. Life is good, even in the hardest of times, when you just
remember to include the little things that make you smile.
