Road Trippin'

For hours on end I gaze out the window and see the forever fields as they blur by.  My thoughts continually revert to the one topic that often occupies my mind-- him.

This young infatuation I had so long ago has grown into a love I no longer can deny. So much of who we are has grown through each other. Our impact on each other is undeniable. We have shared so much through our years as friends and along with that, we also just happen to share a birthday. We have always celebrated together, and this year was no different. 7478 miles away and he still manages to make my heart flutter as if he was right here beside me.  And seeing his face, even on a computer screen, is the best birthday present I could have ever asked for. I’m not sure what to expect down this road; what will come of this love, but the journey thus far has been fabulous.

Soon the sun slinks behind the red Arizona hills leaving behind an arrangement of colors in the sky. Those colors fade and the heavens become a perfect shade of black. The occasional pair of headlights penetrates the dark, but the majority of the time, it’s just me in the backseat surrounded by my thoughts and the darkness.

I love traveling; I really do, not because of the destination, but the journey along the way. So much to see; so much beauty to embrace. Even in the dark of the night, the world is a beautiful place.
