We would do well to slow down a little, focus on the significant, and truly see the things that matter most.
Filling up on powdered donuts and red colored Icees.
Huddling together in a tiny hotel bed to watch our favorite football teams play.
Jumping in freezing cold water to prove each other wrong.
Getting lost in the middle of the desert for hours on end.
Horribly singing, more like screaming, to our favorite songs all the way home.
Loving, Fighting, Screaming, Singing, Talking, Laughing, Joking, Teasing, Smiling, Crying....
making memories.
Life is defined by those moments, not the big monumental moments, but the little ones, filled with spontaneity and insanity. I will never forget the time I bought a goldfish with my best friend and took it to a cute guy. I will never forget when I went to IHOP at 2 a.m. or went to St. George with a 15 minute notice. I will never forget when I jumped off a bridge or slept in a tree. I will never forget that late night canyon drive or that time I first gave him my heart. I will never forget sinking a canoe in the middle of a pond or watching from a couch in cave while the sky cried. Because in those moments I let go of my inhibitions, and set myself free.
Happiness is the art of recognizing all of the good things in life amidst all the absurdities, sad occurrences, and things that cannot be explained. I believe in a God who believes in me-- and that alone helps me to remember the kind of life I deserve to be living. He is my hope and because I believe in Him, I also believe in happiness.
